Cryptocurrencies: research, custody and risks

Secure Bitcoin and Crypto Investments in 2025

Cryptocurrency decisions involve the asset, the platform and custody. Use this guide as a checklist for research and operational security before moving money.

Research before deciding

Read project documentation, identify its maintainers and check the sources and dates behind its claims. Compare promises with working features. Advertising and social popularity are not substitutes for evidence.

Custody and access

Understand who controls the keys and how recovery works. Use unique passwords, protect recovery backups and enable the authentication options your provider supports. Never share private keys or recovery phrases. Wallet features differ; check the provider’s instructions.

Check the platform

Verify the legal entity, jurisdiction, withdrawal terms and fees in official documents. A familiar brand does not establish authorization for every product in every country. Identify support and complaint channels.

Scams and tool limitations

Be cautious of guaranteed returns, urgent deposit requests and requests for remote access. The Dobrando Bancas calculator simulates position sizes; it does not hold cryptocurrency, execute trades or track a live portfolio.

Risks remain

Secure access does not eliminate market, liquidity or custody risks. The SEC warns about significant risks in investments involving certain crypto assets. Read its educational investor alert and check the rules applicable to the product.
